5th June 2024 – Health Suite
Following a thorough assessment by the contractor for the roof remedial works at the health suite in Ken Martin Leisure Centre, we have been advised the health suite will need to remain closed for an additional 21 weeks, with a tentative reopening at the end of October 2024. This is necessary due to the complexities involved in the repair process and to ensure your safety. We are working closely with the contractor to minimise the closure whenever feasible.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and we will provide you with updates as soon as we receive new information.
Please see the below updates taking place at Harvey Hadden Sports Village:

Awards Sponsor: Reward With An Award Medals & Trophies by Matt Bradbury Sports
Exciting news! Active Nottingham is thrilled to be backing This Girl Can’s 2024 Awards, sponsored by Reward With An Award Medals & Trophies by Matt Bradbury Sports. Discover everything you need to know about the Awards, the different categories, and how you can nominate the amazing women in your life to shine bright in the spotlight! Let’s celebrate these fantastic women together!

This Girl Can award aims to make a success in celebrating our unsung heroes who are doing AMAZING work in our communities.
No one gets to choose how you exercise other than you. Your body, your call and whatever that looks like we think it’s worth celebrating. This Girl Can, funded by the National Lottery, believes that there’s no “right” way to get active. However you jiggle, kick, lift, stretch or sprint, it’s time to get moving how you please.
This Girl Can is a national movement, created by Sport England in 2015. The focus is on tackling the physical inactivity gap between men and women. At a national level, we know that 59.8% of women aged 16 and over are active (more than 150 minutes of exercise a week), compared to 63.1% of men. In Nottingham, 58% of women do more than 150% of exercise a week, compared to 63% of men. This Girl Can look at how women can move more in a way that suits them and the movement can be celebrated.
Nominations have now closed and shortlisting has now been completed. This year, we received a staggering 154 entries, and the calibre of nominations was exceptionally high, making the selection process incredibly difficult for all the judges. A list of this year’s finalists can be viewed on our dedicated page.
If you were not selected for a shortlist to the Awards evening, we want to emphasise how much we/and those who nominated you, value you. Your commitment to excellence within your community is commendable, and we encourage you to continue!
The 2024 This Girl Can Nottingham Awards will take place on the evening of Thursday 21 November 2024. Details of the venue and the evening have been emailed to those shortlisted, please ensure you RSVP your place by Wednesday 13 November 2024.
